The Tip Jar: My Walgreens Trip-Be Sure to Use a Prescription Transfer Coupon!
All this for $1.36!
I needed some black printer ink this morning and really didn’t want to run to Walmart and pay $20+ for some ink. Then I remembered Walgreens carries ink and ink refill kits (which are very easy to use and well worth the money!). But I also remembered that I got a great $25 check in the mail to transfer a prescription back to Walgreens.
Time shift backwards . . . every time I have a prescription I check to see if there are any coupons available for new or transferred prescriptions. These can be online, in the Sunday inserts, or mailed from the store. We have 4 or 5 places in town that I can rotate in between and see which has the greater reward. Walgreens is really good about wanting repeat business–after I transferred from them to Meijer last time, less than a month later they mailed me a check for $25 that could be used at Walgreens for a new or transferred prescription.
So last week when my daughter needed some medicine I went to Walgreens with my check. The antibiotic I got was free through our prescription plan and they put a validation stamp on the check showing that I had had a new prescription. I could use it that day or save it. So I got a free $25 from Walgreens!
This morning I went to Walgreens and got all of the above for just $1.36 thanks to the Walgreens prescription check! I got the inkjet refill kit I needed. The sandwich bags weren’t on sale but a necessity and the Valentine candy was all 75% off. Don’t worry, I’m not going to eat all that candy–it’s for decorating that I’m doing in April.

If you can find a prescription transfer coupon, use it! You need the medicine anyway so you might as well let the store reward you for using their pharmacy.
